For many of us, managing stress is one of the most challenging aspects of life. The realities of stress and the issues that arise from it are some of the most inhibiting things we deal with, regardless of who we are. Additionally, stress can be a perilous foe. The expression "stress kills" can be taken literally. Everybody experiences stress at some point in their lives, but as we get older, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by the stresses of daily life. By developing less-than-ideal coping mechanisms, we can sometimes manage stress in unhealthy ways. As a way to "unwind" and "de-stress," we might occasionally venture out for a cigarette or a few beers. Sadly, these kinds of coping mechanisms have the potential to quickly develop into addictions, making it even more challenging for us to deal with the stresses that we encounter on a daily basis.
